Unique Success Position -What is your USP?

How many times have you heard of USP? This USP generally stands for your Unique Selling Proposition. However, for me it stands for Unique Success Position. Why? Because it is the position that I express about the uniqueness of what I am sharing and supports success.

Regardless of what you make USP mean to you, it still consists of three major components. USP is generally thought about as the “elevator pitch”. In simple words, when you are in an elevator you have a limited amount of time to communicate and in that time can you express your uniqueness in such a way that the listener wants what you are offering?

Curious about the three major components? Here they are:

  1. What makes what you are offering UNIQUE?
  2. In what you are SHARING, how does the listener benefit?
  3. What action are you PROPOSING the listener takes?

In all reality in an elevator there is a very short period of time to get someone to know you, like you and trust you, which are essential components to getting someone to “buy” into what you are sharing. Thus, becoming very clear of what makes what you are offering unique is of utmost importance.

Here is an exercise to support you: (Once again, I encourage you to write down your answers)

  1. What do you believe makes you unique?
  2. What do others say make you unique?
  3. Are you passionate about offering your unique (services, products, education, ideas)?
  4. How can you position your uniqueness to help you create the outcome you desire?

Answer these questions and begin to strategize all your marketing around this uniqueness and track your results, you might just be surprised.
